New partnership of TRON involves cloud computing provision, not blockchain
TRON founder Justin Sun recently teased the community by stating that it was partnering with an “industry giant”. It was followed by wide speculation in the community, with some strongly suggesting that TRON is partnering with Baidu, China's largest internet search provider. The tweet, posted by Sun on Friday, gave very little information:The unconfirmed “partnership” will focus on cloud computing resources, not blockchain, according to a report by ODaily published on Monday. The report, as translated by CNLedger, stated that the tie-up would involve TRON buying cloud computing resources from Baidu. Reportedly, both parties will be working to maximize inter-compatibility and “to build, operate and debug blockchain products” based on Baidu Cloud. “Baidu and Tron have not yet formed any connection at the blockchain business level. Currently the cooperation mainly focuses on the purchase and use of (Baidu's) basic cloud computing resources,” CNLedger’s translated report pointed out. However, neither TRON nor Baidu have officially confirmed or commented on the partnership. Moreover, according to the ODaily report, Baidu plans to release its so-called “Blockchain Commercialization Super Partner Plan v1.0” separately. It will focus on tech exploration and revenue sharing with “commercial super partners” to build a blockchain ecosystem that is “mutually beneficial.” Last month, Baidu had released a white paper focusing on the development of its ‘Super Chain’ network system, introducing the idea of commercializing the Baidu cloud blockchain BaaS platform.
