IBM joins HACERA’s latest venture to launch ‘Yellow Pages’ for blockchain firms

Multinational tech giant IBM has collaborated with a project that aims to build Yellow Pages, or a platform that serves as a catalogue, for blockchain ventures. The announcement was made on Thursday on the tech company's official blog. "We think blockchain is the third major wave of network technology (phone, internet, blockchain)," Jerry Cuomo, vice president of blockchain technologies at IBM Blockchain wrote in the blog post. For those who may not be aware, Yellow Pages emerged back in the 1830s as an organized directory for businesses. Simply put, Yellow Pages placed businesses firmly on the map and gave them exposure to the general public.

HACERA, a blockchain firm, will be responsible for this project, known as the "Unbounded Registry". IBM has joined the project as a founding member. The project aims to offer a decentralized way of registering, searching, joining and transacting across different blockchain solutions. Additionally, the project is built to interoperate with popular distributed ledger technologies, including Stellar Network, The Linux Foundation's Hyperledger Fabric and Hyperledger Sawtooth. Members of the registry include prominent names such as China's Huawei, Intel and Hitachi. IBM has been on the forefront in terms of embracing blockchain technology and studying its large scale applications across different fields. Earlier this month, the tech firm had collaborated with Stellar to explore advancement in payments technology. This venture led to the development of a new project on the Stellar protocol known as the IBM Blockchain World Wire.
