Bitcoin & cryptocurrency miner of Norway receives bombing threat for creating ‘noise’

Norwegian company, Kryptovault that specializes in large scale Bitcoin and cryptocurrency mining, and data center services, has received bombing threats. The threat said: “This is sabotage. If you are expanding crypto mining and filling the country with noise, then you will be sabotaging the peace. I am threatening to send you some explosives.” According to Vakdalposten, Kryptovault was sent the bombing threats on Saturday after a news was published about the company in a local newspaper. The apparent unpopularity of crypto mining

While cryptocurrencies are gaining its popularity all across the globe, Crypto mining, on the other hand, is losing its popularity on a global scale. The major reason for losing popularity is the amount of electricity that the mining consumes, resulting in excessive power consumption and pocket-burning electricity bills. Recently, software company- Symantec took a dramatic step at the Black Hat cybersecurity conference in Las Vegas on 8th August by mining Monero, to establish the fact that crypto mining results in needless expense and consumes enormous amounts of electricity.

KryptoVault’s threat is different

Excessive electricity consumption and high electricity bills are the usual reasons to oppose crypto mining. However, Kryptovault has powered its facilities with green and clean Norwegian energy sources from hydro and wind-powered turbines. The crypto mining firm is reportedly located in remote location. Considering these facts of the company and judging the usual points objections, it is unclear why the bombing threat came in making noise pollution the only cause of threat or may be that was the only cause that could be highlighted. In an interview with Vakdalsposten, the Managing Director of KyptoVault, Gjermund Hagesaeter, disclosed that the company faced a few conflicts with residents over the mining facilities in Honefoss and Dale. SEE ALSO: Bitcoin investor’s crypto theft: Dogecoin founder takes a dig at holders for trusting centralized exchanges As reported by CCN, Hagesaeter, had got in touch with the police soon after receiving the threat and issued a warning for the employees and asked them adopt adequate safety measures. “The threat has been reported to the police and these are also taking the whole issue very seriously indeed. We have also asked the police to assess whether any further action needs to be taken. The facility at Follum is located in a fenced area, so it would be difficult for any intruder to gain access but the one at Dale is far more accessible so we have warned everyone to be on their toes,” Haegesater told Ringerikes Blad, a local newspaper in Norway.   Image via Shutterstock Join our Telegram group
