Queensland, better known for its tourist hotspots, like the Great Barrier Reef and the Gold Coast is once again hogging all the limelight. This time it is because of its inherent affinity towards one type of decentralized peer-to-peer cryptocurrency, bitcoin cash (BCH). During recent months, many proponents of BCH have been propagating wider adoption of BCH in the northern parts of Queensland. Local startup TravelbyBit has been given permission by the Queensland government to turn the city into a crypto haven. According to reports, the firm’s cryptocurrency point-of-sale system has been deployed to over 200 merchants nationwide, with at least 60% located in the state of Queensland. North Queensland is slowly becoming the hub of businesses who are accepting BCH. The area has its own Bitcoin Cash meet-up, it is home to the country’s first BCH-only automated teller machine (ATM), and the area has a lot of BCH accepting merchants and the number is growing with each passing day. This week, using the mobile application Marco Coino, BCH fans have noticed that merchants in the state of Queensland now total 73 businesses with 33 merchants in the northern territory.
